TURKEY COVE CAMP

A phased, off-grid project that includes the construction of a big house, little house, bunk house, and workshop set in the coastal Maine woodland. The camp is a place for extended family to gather in the summer, nuclear family to come together in colder seasons, and potentially aspects of it used for short term rental. The big house is envisioned to be made of prefabricated panels comprised of timber and straw. In later phases, are intended to be stick built and seasonally occupied, so allowed to be less robust in their envelope assemblies. The buildings are oriented to the cardinal points and connected by a boardwalk. They are supported on granite piers affixed to bedrock near the surface. Where deeper foundations are needed, helical piles take the place of the granite. The intent is to deploy renewable power generation and storage, electric heating and cooling, well water, graywater recycling, and composting toilets in order to operate off-grid.
